“How come that some places in the world can’t
do without chairs
when we have never
needed them?”
This is the
question young Karma from the Buddhist Kingdom of Bhutan in
the Himalayas asks
himself, after he saw a chair in his school for the first
time in his life
when he was 10. This was the beginning of a long conflict
with Karma’s father
because Karma wanted to become a modern chairmaker.
Karma’s father
is teaching young monks in the temple sitting on a cushion.
Eight years later
Karma brings home to his father from the capital – a chair…
